Tender description

The main requirements of the Medical Service is to make decisions, provide advice, and rationale, on applications against criteria prescribed by the NHS Pensions Regulations, the NHS Injury Benefits Regulations and the NHSBSA for Ill Health Retirement, Deferred Benefit, Permanent Injury Benefit and Temporary Injury Allowance. The main requirements of the Medical Service are: - — making decisions, providing advice and rationale on applications against criteria prescribed by the NHS Pension and NHS Injury Benefit Regulations, and the NHSBSA, for Ill Health Retirement, Deferred Benefit, Permanent Injury Benefit and Temporary Injury Allowance; — consideration of evidence to support the above applications; — completion of reports, including decisions, rationale and advice to the NHSBSA, the details of which may also be subject to external scrutiny, e.g. Ombudsman; — interpretation and advice to the NHSBSA on clinical evidence; — follow-up liaison with the NHSBSA in relation to applications; — provision of a quality-control regime, including audit and a complaints function; — provision of management information as required; — liaison with NHSBSA and if directed, liaison with relevant organisations to support the provision of further evidence; — full administration of the service; — assisting with appeals.
