Tender description

The University of Birmingham invites tenders for supply of a Functional Near-Infrared Imaging System comprising the following: — Frequency-Domain functional Near Infrared System capable of detecting changes in oxy- and deoxy-haemoglobin concentration in the brain upon external signal. — Frequency-Domain functional Near Infrared System capable of detecting the scattering coefficient in the brain upon external stimuli. — Capable of whole-head imaging. — Multiple source-detector combinations to allow for simultaneous whole-head imaging. — Multiplexing for improved data acquisition. — Specific parameters measured: o Average intensity (DC) of the light that traversed the tissue; o Modulation (AC/DC) of the signal; o Phase delay of the signal (time the signal took to traverse the tissue). — Capacity to integrate with magnetic resonance imaging, electroencephalography and transcranial magnetic stimulation techniques. — Tracking system. o Digitizing hardware and software for coregistration. — Data analysis software; — Delivery and installation of the imaging system on university site; — Training users on university site; — At least 12 months warranty with possible extension; — System must be fully upgradable in future. This project may be funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) or; — European Structural and Investment Fund (ESIF) or; — Research Councils UK (RCUK), the strategic partnership of the UK's seven Research Councils.
