La Collette Cell 30 Phase 2 Earthworks and Liner Installation

TTS wishes to construct a new lined ash cell to provide a suitable environment for the storage of bottom ash from the EfW plant and other arisings. Key Issues: • The current cell 30 is currently being filled with asbestos waste arising in the island, the imminent transfer of the legacy waste which is currently stored in shipping containers will mean that the existing cell will soon reach capacity. • The work to decant the legacy asbestos and dispose of the waste in cell 30 is likely be concurrent with this project. The cell 30PH2 liner will be joined with the cell 30 liner on the east embankment of cell 30. This work at the interface will require careful management and coordination between the two contracts. • The location for Cell 30PH2 is to the east of the existing cell at the La Collette Phase 2 Waste Management Facility. The cells have been selected by DfI to be a repository for asbestos waste. The site is situated to the south of La Collette Phase 1 which is a marine reclamation area now redeveloped for industrial/commercial land use. • DfI as the Waste Management Plan licence holder shall submit a CQA Validation Report to the Waste Regulator as soon as practicable following the construction of the relevant landfill Infrastructure.
