Free standing litter bins: Luton Borough Council

Tender description

• There are some 1100 bins within the Borough: 200 bins of the single / twin type are to be replaced over the next 5 years as part of LBC’s ongoing replacement programme, with some 40+ to be replaced each year. This year 2016/2017 we have 44 units to replace. • LBC’s current Litter Bin specification is based upon the product currently used (see attached data sheets for information). • There are certain parts of the LBC Litter Bin specification that we are happy to relax as long as the final product remains fit for purpose i.e. the material is currently galvanised steel with a life expectancy of 10 years. A fire retardant, UV resistant, material might be deemed suitable. We have highlighted in red parts of the specification that could potentially be changed. • We are looking for longevity, practicality and the cost effective serviceable aspects of a Litter bin • We must ensure any alternative bin proposal remains form fit and functional in a similar way to the Specification attached • We are open to suggestions re alternative styled bins i.e. our current bin is heritage style , we would consider a more contemporary design if it performed the same • We would give due consideration to receiving any cost effective innovation in Litter Bins that would assist LBC in meeting its corporate social responsibilities, but would require case study information in support of the opportunity to change • We invite suppliers to provide costings for both the single and double bin. • Please indicate if and where your suggested product differs from the current specification.
