Tender description

The Authority is conducting an open procedure pursuant to regulation 27 of the Regulations to appoint a Contractor to deliver a BVD Project to improve farm productivity in England, organizing coordinated delivery of advice to enable farmers to achieve a reduction in the level of BVD in cattle. The duration of this Contract will be for 2½ years plus 6 months reporting, a total of 3 years. The Contractor will be required to work with qualified vets to ensure that a consistent disease control message is relayed to all participants. The Contractor will hold initial training meetings to establish clusters of livestock keepers. Each cluster will be led by a vet. A vet will provide on-farm advice, informing the farmer of the level and method of testing required to establish the disease status of the herd. The initial testing (vet time if blood testing, and laboratory fees) will be funded as part of this project. The Contractor will be responsible for collating the test results and arranging for the vet to carry out a follow-up visit. The Contractor will ensure that a follow-up meeting is held for each of the clusters after its members have received the results of the disease test and follow up advice report which is informed by any disease test results.
