North Ayrshire Council (NAC) is commissioning a suitable provider to deliver an Adult Respite Service within North Ayrshire. North Ayrshire Council (NAC) is commissioning a suitable provider to deliver an Adult Respite Service within North Ayrshire. Respite care is a service intended to benefit a carer and the person he or she cares for by providing a short break from caring tasks. The break is made possible through alternative care arrangements. Breaks may last a few hours and up to 42 nights and may or may not be repeated at regular intervals. Respite services will be provided on the basis of an individual assessment of need carried out by a social work or health professional. The service will be delivered to individuals over the age of 18 who have a learning disability. Some individuals may also have a mental health condition, complex needs and may display behaviours that challenge. The service will be delivered from an accessible, 8 unit, purpose built Council owned building, Taigh Mor, based in Beith, North Ayrshire. The service will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year within the Taigh Mor building. Delivery of this service contribute to the following North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership Priorities: Priority 4: Prevention and Early Intervention. Priority 5: Improving Mental Health and Wellbeing.
