Real-time passenger information system

Tender description

The Authority requires additional deliveries from the original supplier, Daktronics Limited, which are intended both as a partial replacement of, and extension to, existing supplies for the design, installation, commissioning and to bring into service a Real Time Passenger Information system which can connect to the various bus operator AVL systems to receive in real time estimated arrival and departure times on all bus stops in the Republic of Ireland and then provide this information to on street RTPI Display Signs. The additional deliveries envisaged by this notice are intended as an interim solution, as the Authority has separately progressed a procurement procedure for these supplies. A change of supplier would oblige the Authority to acquire supplies having different technical characteristics which would result in disproportionate technical difficulties in operation and maintenance, in particular with regard to integration into, and maintaining stability in, existing Authority operating environments and systems. The additional deliveries envisaged by this notice are intended as an interim solution, as the Authority has separately progressed a procurement procedure for these supplies.
