Tender description
The requirement is for a dynamic underwater laser scanner that will allow for real-time 3D point cloud generation with on-the fly inspection for rapid data collection over long baselines. This system will need to have sufficient flexibility to be deployed in a range of different operating conditions, including; stationary (diver deployed), from a remotely operated vehicle (ROV), autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) and also as a surface mount on survey vessel. The requirement is for a dynamic underwater laser scanner that will allow for real-time 3D point cloud generation with on-the fly inspection for rapid data collection over long baselines. This system will need to have sufficient flexibility to be deployed in a range of different operating conditions, including: stationary (diver deployed), from a remotely operated vehicle (ROV), autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) and also as a surface mount on survey vessel. The depth range of operation required will be to a minimum of 4 000 m, and the scanning range will need to be capable of resolving features at least 20 m from the source of the transmission. Further general requirements are that there is no need for calibration to ensure maximum validity with a minimum amount of technical support in the field. Additional specific technical requirements must meet or exceed the following: Performance. — Scan Range Minimum: 1.5m (4.92’) | Maximum: 20m (65.6’). — Points Per Laser Line: 2048. — Points Per Second: 106,496 at 52 Hz. — Laser Line Profiles per Second: 52 Hz. — Angle of View / System Coverage: 50o. — X Resolution (Profile to Profile, Along Track). — 4,8 mm @ 0.5 Knot (0.25 m/s) | 19.2mm @ 2 Knot (1 m/s) | 38.5mm @ 4 Knot (2 m/s) — Y Resolution (Laser Line, Cross Track): — 1,3 mm @ 3 m | 2,3 mm @ 5 m | 4,5 mm @ 10 m | 6,7 mm @ 15 m | 8,9 mm @ 20 m — Z Resolution (Range Resolution): — 0,2 mm @ 3 m | 0,5 mm @ 5 m | 1,9 mm @ 10 m | 4,1 mm @ 15 m | 7,1 mm @ 20 m Mechanical. — Operating temperature (water): 30 oC to -10 oC. — Depth rating: 4 000 m (13,123’). Application specific requirements are that for stationary scanning the platform will require at least (0.0036o) of rotational /angular resolution, and have the capacity to operate in any orientation to provide 360o continuous scans. It will also require at least 90 m of compatible cable to allow for flexibility of deployment in a range of conditions. In terms of future proofing and expansion, this system additionally requires the flexibility to incorporate integrated camera and lighting systems in the future, so it should be modular and expandable. Other specific requirement related to the stationary scanning applications are that related to the physical dimensions, which must meet or be less than the following: Dimensions. — Outer diameter - 104 mm (4.09”) | Length - 670 mm (26.38”). Weight. — Water: 8,6 kg (18,9 lbs) - Actuator, 11,1 kg (24.4) - Tripod. — Air: 14,3 kg (31,5 lbs) - Actuator, 13,2 kg (29.1 lbs) – Tripod. For mounting on surface vehicles, the sensor will need to be capable of Integration with standard vessel positioning systems (GPS and INS) to provide accurate point cloud models.
