Defra is playing a leading role in the development of the UK’s independent trade policy. We will play a significant role in trade negotiations with the EU and future global partners. This role is particularly important as agriculture, food and drink are among the most challenging aspects of any trade deal. The Trade Policy and Strategy Team, within the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), invites an Expression of Interest from Suppliers to build foundation level knowledge and capability in trade policy and the agriculture, food and drink sectors for staff across the Defra Group and other government departments. The foundation learning will enable officials to develop knowledge and understanding of agriculture, food, drink and trade issues and contribute to policy development across Whitehall. The foundation learning will provide a base for future learning and development, including through the FCO Trade Faculty Practitioner Programme.
