Tender description

Cheshire East Borough Council (The Council) has reviewed with Parent Carers how we can improve the offer to children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) of how they access public transport and appropriate walking routes that will improve life outcomes, choices and independence for these young people. The Council is seeking a supplier who can pilot a flexible and innovative Travel Training Service that will train young people to independently travel to and from school, college, work and subsequently social events. The supplier will offer the young people and their families a safe way of travelling independently, that will build self-esteem and confidence, preparing young people for the transition into adulthood. The supplier will work with the young people to support them using all forms of public transport and where appropriate walking routes to/from school. As this is a new service with the Council this programme will be initially targeted at key children and young people, however it is envisaged that this programme will develop to include primary school children to prepare them for the transition to high school.
