This is a prior information notice to advise of ORE Catapult's intention to commission the services of a company (or consortium) to design, procure, construct and commission a wind turbine bearing test facility at its Blyth site, comprising a strong floor, bearing test rig, and associated hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & control systems (the “bearing facility”). This is a prior information notice to advise of ORE Catapult's intention to commission the services of a company (or consortium) to design, procure, construct and commission a wind turbine bearing test facility at its Blyth site, comprising a strong floor, bearing test rig, and associated hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & control systems (the “bearing facility”). The bearing facility will be used initially for research and product development of wind turbine main bearings and pitch bearings, through exploration and testing of bearing characteristics under extreme load conditions. The high-capacity hydraulic system will allow a wide variety of loading scenarios to be applied during testing. NB: The construction will be phased as funding becomes available; commencing with the strong floor.
