The MPS has a requirement for the provision of a wide variety of small arms ammunitions including pyrotechnic distraction devices to be used in both operational and training environments. This PIN notice is intended to provide early engagement with interested suppliers and to ensure that suppliers are well prepared prior to publication of official tender opportunities for small arms ammunitions for the Metropolitan Police Service. Ammunition types and calibres likely to be sought are listed below: Operational Ammunition — 9mm, — 5.56 x 45mm, — 300Blk (7.62 x 35mm), — Armour piercing 7.62 x 51mm. Training Ammunition — 9mm lead free or frangible, — 5.56 x 45mm lead free or frangible, — 300Blk (7.62 x 35mm) preferably lead free, — 7.62 x 51mm preferably lead free. Blanks and Paint — 9mm, — 5.56 x 45mm, — 300Blk, — 7.62 x 51. Pyrotechnic distraction devices — Various. The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) intends to tender for a variety of small arms ammunitions (operational and training) and specialist natures (or pyrotechnic distraction devices) in 2018. The MPS is still in the planning stages of our procurement sourcing strategy for all our requirements mentioned above.
