A fully automated and integrated reactor composed of 32, independent tubular reactors, capable of operating under gaseous and gas-liquid regimes, and fully integrated analytical instrumentation to provide continuous online information of key parameters, such as activity, selectivity, and lifetime is required. Automated software that controls the instrumentation with the highest levels of safety, accuracy, reproducibility and reliability will be integral. Each individual reactor should be down-scaled from an operating, industrial reactor, which uniquely allows catalyst discovery research to be performed with high discriminative power and with high industrial relevance.
