Summary of the work Deliver advanced code to support the Defence Gateway environment and IAS applications. Deliver integration between IAS Environments and new applications hosted within the Defence Gateway. Provide effective documentation to support delivered outcomes. Work effectively as part of a mixed Military, Civil Servant and Contractor environment. Specialist role Developer Expected Contract Length 220 days + option to extend by 220 days Latest start date 01 March 2017 Maximum Day Rate £500 Early Market Engagement N/A Who Speclialist Work With MOD Civil Servants, Military Personnel, Contractors What Specialists Work On Information Application Services (IAS) is a branch of Army Headquarters based in Andover, Hampshire. To achieve its mission, IAS provides IT application development on the Joint Server Farm, and a wider range of applications on a separate Army Hosting Environment. IAS has a portfolio of successful Oracle Apex, PHP, and .NET applications developed in-house that support MoD and Army branches with their business processes. Working in an Agile and DevOp capability to enhance services for Defence. Skills & Experience • Experience and demonstrable ability in VB/ C#/ ASP.Net with Visual Studio2015 including ASP.Net MVC 5 /Authentication / Authorisation / Web Services / AJAX / State Management / Web Farm Deployment) • Knowledge, experience and demonstrable ability in Net Framework Versions (2.0, 3.0, 3.5 and 4.5). • Experience in building Secure Web Applications including knowledge of how to mitigate common risks listed by OWASP • Knowledge, experience and demonstrable ability in SQL Server 2008/20112/2014/2016 (Database Design / Normalisation / Indexing / Stored Procedures / T-SQL / Full Text Search/ Audit CDC/ Temporal Tables). • Knowledge, experience and demonstrable ability with Test Driven Development practices using xUnit/MsTest/Moq/Effort/AutoPoco • Experience of using TFS/VSTS to manage requirements, source code (Git), Continuous Integraiton and Release Management. • Knowledge, experience and demonstrable ability in Microsoft Azure, including configuring and managing IaaS and PaaS workloads. • Knowledge, experience and demonstrable ability building OData web services using ASP.Net Web API and WCF Data Services • Knowledge, experience and demonstrable ability in building Single Page Applications using TypeScript, React/Redux • Knowledge, experience and demonstrable ability with a wide range of authentication and authorization protocols including ADFS(2/3), SAML2, OAuth2, OpenID Connect and WsFederation. • SharePoint 2013 Development and Administration • Knowledge, experience and demonstrable ability in IIS 6,7 & 8 • Application Pools / Web Farm • JavaScript ES2015 and TypeScript together with bundling tools such as WebPack Nice to Haves • Identity Server 3 • Automated Acceptance testing using BDD frameworks such as SpecFlow/Canopy (F#)/Selenium • Publishing Nuget packages • Oracle 11G • XML RPC • Experience of working in a agile team eg Kanban/Scrum Work Location Army Headquarters, Andover, Hampshire, SP11 8HJ Working Arrangments Place of delivery shall be on site at Army Headquarters, Andover. Army Headquarters normal working hours are Monday – Friday 0830 – 1700. Remote working acceptable. On rare occasions the specialist may be required to visit / work from other MOD locations. All specialists must successfully complete the Army HQ Induction Package; this basic package satisfies a range of administrative requirements such as, yet not limited to, health and safety; equality and diversity; and fire awareness. Specialists are to note this is a mandatory requirement. Security Clearance Security Cleared (SC) All specialists should have the necessary security clearance to be able to access MOD premises and information up to SECRET – UK EYES ONLY; this is the DBS NSV SC level of vetting. Incumbents are to follow both the letter and spirit of Army Headquarters security regulations. Could you please define what is meant by 'remote working acceptable', would this be 1+ days working from home or at another MOD site? Subject to the incumbent being contactable and providing required outputs, remote working is a flexible element, an ad-hoc arrangement dependent upon work (eg. Outputs, meetings, stand-ups) requirements at the time. Working from home or from another MOD site is permissible, to be arranged at the time.
