Biological Services, is a service department within the University’s Research and Strategy Directorate that manages and operates the University’s designated research animal facilities and provides comprehensive support to University staff who use animals in their research and teaching. Biological Services aims to provide a quality, efficient and cost effective service to the academic community and to have in place the highest possible standards of animal welfare. The University wishes to award a Contract for a Biological Services IT System. This will be a new system and will replace manual, resource heavy processes currently in operation. The 3 key functions the IT System must provide are: 1. manage electronic/on-line task requests from researchers (our main customers); 2. record animal and experimental procedure data (some of which is required for compliance purposes); 3. generate and issue invoices to recover costs work undertaken on behalf of researchers.
