PAN1791 - Extension of compactor guarding

Tender description

Leicester City Council (the Authority) invites quotations for the provision of the supply and installation of compactor guarding, extending from the current guarding in place. Leicester City Council has built a Household Waste Recycling Centre on Gypsum Close. It is split level site with customers using the upper level walkways to deposit their waste into various bins below. As part of the original build, machinery was installed to crush and compact the waste streams deposited so that more capacity can be made in the bins. Following a Health and Safety audit it was deemed that these walkways needed some guarding to protect the customers from the moving machinery. This work was completed in early 2016. Some of the equipment originally installed was not deemed fit for purpose, and an upgrade of the site was carried out in spring 2017. This involved larger compactors and additional roller packers, which meant that the existing guarding was no longer adequate to protect the customers. Thus we are looking to install extensions to the existing guarding to ensure we fully protect customers from the upgraded machinery. The proposed contract will be for four months with an option to extend for a period totalling no more than a further one month. We anticipate awarding to a single Supplier.
