Tender description

Provision of Powered Respirator Protective Suit (PRPS) and Gas Tight Suits (GTS). Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) proposes to utilise the Home Office's arrangement with Respirex for the provision of Powered Respirator Protective Suit (PRPS) and Gas Tight Suits (GTS) for a period of two years with an option to extend for a further two years which will align SFRS' current requirements with the wider requirements of UK Fire and Rescue Services thereby ensuring compatibility of equipment with the wider UK Fire and Rescue Services in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding with Centre for National Resilience (CNR) approved by the SFRS Strategic Leadership Team in November 2015. This will ensure that there is no compromise in mutual-aid agreements with the wider UK Fire and Rescue Services thereby ensuring that the cross-border response to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) incidents is not compromised. Procuring PRPS and GTS will allow SFRS to continue to observe National Operational Guidelines (NOG) for UK National Resilience arrangements. SFRS procurement engaged with Home Office (HO) procurement who have recently put in place arrangements with Respirex for the supply of PRPS and GTS. The arrangement was awarded following a Single Tender Action (STA) authority that was granted to OSCT at HO by the Home Secretary.
