Tender description

The final date and time for the submission of bids is Thursday 19th October 2017 at 14:00. All tender information must be submitted through the CCS eSourcing Portal. The British Antarctic Survey wishes to purchase a medium frequency (MF) radar to study the dynamics and energetics of the middle and upper atmosphere above the Antarctic Peninsula. The radar will be operated at Rothera Research Station (67.567°S 68.133°W). The new radar system will both continue the work of the existing MF radar, which has operated nearly continuously since 1997, and introduce a new capability for studying the lower ionosphere. The current system measures winds, tides and planetary waves between approximately 60 and 100 km altitude, using the full correlation analysis technique. It is part of a scientific research programme focused on space weather and its interaction with the neutral atmosphere. The new radar will improve the altitude coverage and temporal cadence of the existing system, whilst fitting within the current antenna footprint. A complete, fully tested, validated and calibrated system, fully automated and remotely controllable, must be delivered to BAS no later than 28 February 2018. Please ensure you review all attached information to ensure a full understanding of this requirement. All attachments can be found with the RFx attachments tab within the Emptoris System. This contract will be awarded based on the evaluation criteria set out in the RFP document.
