Tender description

RBFA wishes to appoint a single lead supplier to retrofit the fire training control and safety critical training system at its Fire House at the Whitley Wood, training facility, 270 Whitley Wood Road, Reading, RG2 8FS. The supplier will also be required to offer ongoing maintenance and servicing of the equipment for a minimum of five years plus the de commissioning, removal and disposal of any existing equipment. In addition to the retrofitting of a new system the lead supplier will be responsible for the completion of associated improvements to the building fabric and structure to enhance the building layout. The Fire House is located at Whitley Wood, Reading. The Fire House was opened in 1994 and consists of a 3 storey building which has been in constant use to provide realistic breathing apparatus (BA) training for the last 23 years. Examples of the simulation incidents that are able to be created in the Fire House include: Carbonaceous fires, Gas simulated fires, Use of artificial smoke. The Authority has obtained funding to upgrade the current training control and safety system that is used to manage fire fighter training plus carry out associated building improvements. The Authority is seeking to appoint a single lead supplier to deliver the whole project which will include: Supply and retrofit of the fire training control and safety system in the Fire House, Associated improvements to the building fabric and structure to improve the internal layout. To manage the de commissioning, removal and disposal of the old equipment offer a minimum of 5 years maintenance and support with possible extension to the contract term.
