Tender description

Natura 2000 is an EU wide network of protected areas intended to preserve the endangered habitats and species in the EU. It comprises the protected areas defined in the Directive 2009/147/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council (Birds Directive) on the conservation of wild birds (the codified version of Council Directive 79/409/EEC as amended), and in Council Directive 92/43/EEC on the conservation of natural habitats and wild fauna and flora (Habitats Directive) and aims to build a coherent ecological network. This project is expected to deliver 23 Conservation Management Plans for Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) and associated Special Protection Areas (SPAs), incorporating approximately 14 230 ha of protected habitat in Northern Ireland. The Contract has been split into 2 lots based on habitat types: Lot 1: sites which are predominately terrestrial habitats and Lot 2: sites which are predominately Freshwater habitats.
