The Provision of Highways Weed Control Services

Tender description

The London Borough of Havering is seeking a qualified and experienced provider to meet the Council's requirement to carry out the control of weeds predominantly on the public highway. The contract requires that sites are kept clear of weeds through the application of an approved weed control chemical on four separate occasions throughout the growing season. If acceptable standards of weed growth are not maintained the contractor will be required to manually remove weeds and dispose of these at a licensed disposal facility. The contractor must comply with all Road Traffic Regulations. In particular Chapter 8 of the Department of Transport Traffic Signs Manual summarized in the HMSO publication ‘Safer Road Works Ahead’ and all other current legislation relating to works which affect the Highway. The contractor must also comply with all relevant sections of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 where the works will affect the Highway. This contract is designed deliver the highest quality service available in line with British and European Standards, sound and accepted best practice implicit in the specification and public/user health and safety. We are seeking a company which has the resources and is competent and able to achieve and maintain a high quality service standard over the one year duration of this contract starting in March 2018.
