Tender description
The HSE, on behalf of SSWHG Maternity services at Cork University Maternity Hospital (CUMH), intends to purchase a Da Vinci Robotic surgical system from Intuitive Surgical to replace its current robotic system. This surgical system will be used to continue to undertake minimally invasive surgery at CUMH, which is a recognised centre of excellence for robotic surgery in Europe. The robotic programme has enabled the Gynaecological department to vastly increase the number of surgeries performed by a minimally invasive approach, and thus reduce the number of laparotomies undertaken. Further procedures in Cork University Hospital may also be conducted with this robot over time.
