Identification, Consolidation, and Redevelopment of Policing Role Profiles

The current role and skills framework hosted by Skills for Justice is out of date, not fit for purpose and does not presently meet the needs of policing. The content was last reviewed in 2009 and since then the policing landscape and strategic vision has changed significantly. The current framework consists of Behaviours, which have recently been updated, National Occupational Standards (NOS), which are to be phased out, and Role Profiles. In order to influence and support the creation of a more professional workforce with the skills they need to provide a high level of service, the Role Profiles for police officers need to be updated and enhanced to articulate the skills and professional standards, competencies and behaviours for policing on a national basis.
