Tender description

The service is for weed control spraying, provided primarily through programmed work with flexibility for additional ad-hoc provision. The contract will be designed to enable the additional provision of a second weed spray which will be funded via any underspend in Highways winter service. This concept was successfully introduced for the first time in 2017/18. Based on current performance, limitations of the supply chain and business risk it has been determined that lots 4 & 5 below will be extended by one year under their current contractual arrangements. Lots 1, 2 & 3 will be re-procured. Lot 1 – Dartford & Gravesham (Re-procurement) Lot 2 – Sevenoaks & Tonbridge & Malling (Re-procurement) Lot 3 – Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells (Re-procurement) Lot 4 – Ashford & Swale (1 Year Contract Extension) Lot 5 - Canterbury & Thanet (1 Year Contract Extension) The contract will primarily service KCC HT&W owned assets. There may also be the need to carry out works on privately owned assets in order to ensure highway safety. This type of work has the potential to be re-charged through existing KCC processes. There may be future interest from district and parish providers within Kent to gain access to this contract. The level of interest is unquantified at this point in time. Any future approaches should be considered as and when they arise. The contract will be structured so as not to limit any such flexibility. Keywords: weed
