Tender description

This tender exercise aims to find a bold and innovative teaching capture solution to improve engagement, retention and student attainment through the delivery and capture of a wider set of learning and teaching approaches. We will carry out a pilot of 1 system, in 6 teaching rooms, to fully evaluate the feasibility of a University-wide learning and teaching capture system. The success of the pilot will lead onto a contract for the provision of a learning and teaching capture system at the right cost. We require a system which will allow: The capture of facilitated discussion and dialogue, the development of professional and practical skills, the creation of screencasts and interactivity, learner analytics to optimise learning and support, students to ask questions online during teaching sessions, respond to polls, highlight to the staff member they are confused at a point during the session, take notes online, access recordings and search within recordings too. Phase 1 — the pilot — the university intends to award a contract for the supply of a system, in 6 teaching areas, over one semester. During this time and for a period of several weeks thereafter the university will appraise the merits of the system and the supplier. We would expect the system and any recordings and analytics produced to be made available to us for several weeks after the end of the pilot. The 6 teaching areas will consist of 4 standard teaching rooms and 2 specialist rooms (a Scale-Up room and a lab space for the specialist training of health professionals). Phase 2 — the roll-out — following a successful pilot the chosen supplier will work with the university to integrate the chosen system into the teaching practices of most academic staff. The precise scope, scale and timescale of this roll-out will be agreed with the chosen supplier at the start of Phase 2 but we anticipate a full roll-out over the course of 12 months. The roll-out would be across a maximum of 340 teaching spaces which would include teaching spaces as specified above for Phase 1, PC labs and lecture theatres. This timescale and number of teaching spaces is for guidance only and is subject to change.
