Use and Description The supply, installation and commissioning of a 5-axis high performance CNC machine tool specialised in the high precision machining of bladed disks (Blisks) and integrated bladed rotors (IBRs). It is important that the machine tool is designed with a kinematic suitable for the rapid and highly accurate re-positioning of the machine spindle (<10 µm) when traversing the large rotational angles required to machine the aerofoils on blisks and IBRs. Anticipated work-piece materials are Titanium and Nickel alloys. Any suggestions that will aid production or method improvement are welcomed and should be included.
