Design and manufacture of a boat for the Lake Rangers working on Lake Windermere

To enable and encourage different users of the lake to safely enjoy Windermere we have a team of four Lake Rangers. They assist, advise, educate and encourage the general public to comply with the byelaws. The Lake Ranger Team’s policy still remains to achieve compliance with the byelaws through education. However there are still a minority of boat users who continue to speed on the lake. To be able to effectively educate boat users we still require two vessels to patrol Windermere. This enables two boats to patrol the lake at the same time in the busy periods of the year. These two boats will patrol the north or south basins of the lake separately to maximise our patrolling coverage of the lake, to monitor and manage byelaw compliance. We require this boat to patrol Lake Windermere and when required enforce the byelaws on the lake. It will need to carry three crew members and all necessary kit and equipment to safely patrol the lake and take enforcement action when required. The majority of the time the boat will need to travel on the water at speeds below the 6nmph and 10nmph speed limits on the lake and when required travel in excess of these speeds to catch speeding offenders and other vessels which break any byelaws.
