Summary of the work To work in the data analytics competency centre on a number of products providing services to the Home Office customers. The Interaction Designer will form part of a core product team, primarily working on Search products. Specialist role Designer Expected Contract Length 6 Months with the opportunity to extend for a further period up to a maximum of 6 months. Latest start date Saturday 28 October 2017 Maximum Day Rate £650 Who Speclialist Work With A multi-disciplinary agile team including UR, front-end developer, back-end developer, content designer, dev ops, infrastructure, architecture, product manager and application manager. What Specialists Work On • Develop wireframes & prototypes for new Search features driven by user research • Support evaluative research to test designs • Design solutions for the following (not exhaustive); o In tool collaboration o Add new icons to cover new data types o Accessibility improvements (tab ordering, use of colour etc) o Enhancements to network view which allow user to better customise o New web browser optimisation o Integration of two search tools; one optimised for structured data the other for unstructured • Test integration solutions with users Skills & Experience • Provide evidence of where you have successfully used sketching and prototyping on paper and in HTML – 15% • Provide evidence of where you have successfully designed accessible, secure, responsive user interfaces – 10% • Provide evidence of where you have written copy for user interfaces – 10% • Demonstrate a deep understanding of typography 10% • Provide evidence of where you have worked in a dynamic agile environment 10% • Have the relevant industry experience or a design related degree. 10% Nice to Haves Experience of the Government Digital Service’s Design Principles and Digital Service Standard and its application to internal products and services Work Location Based in Croydon with occasional travel to headquarters in central London and various stakeholder teams in the UK. Working Arrangments Travel to regional sites to be agreed, expenses incurred from travel outside of the M25/Greater London will be subject to Home Office Travel and Subsistence Policy. Security Clearance All staff must be SC cleared. We will ask bidders for details of key personnel, if successful the bidder will be asked for confirmation of security clearance or we will initiate clearance process.
