Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is looking to appoint a developer to undertake the redevelopment of the eastern gateway to Hatfield Town Centre. Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is looking to appoint a developer to undertake the redevelopment of the eastern gateway to Hatfield Town Centre. The contract consists of the demolishment of existing buildings with the following being developed: One Town Centre Eight Storey Landmark building with a curved form with a largely glazed frontage comprising of: — Up to 2 Retail Units, — 48 Residential Apartments, — 4 Penthouse Suites. Fourway's House Four storey contemporary building comprising of: — Up to 2 Retail Units, — 18 Residential Apartments. Public Realm Improved public realm in the space between and around the buildings and the creation of new parking areas. The proposals have been borne out of a positive response to the physical environment and local needs context. A Design and Access Statement has been developed with significant input from key stakeholders and residents. The statement seeks to describe the nature of the proposals for the development and can be viewed on the planning portal (6/2017/0606/MAJ). There is no requirement for affordable housing in either block.
