Social Innovation Fund Ireland has identified through its work that while there are many not for profits in Ireland innovating in different sectors, the collection of data and implementation of measurement tools are not widely adopted. The definition and measurement of impact is vital in order to fund the scaling process and to progress genuine social change. The Education Fund opened for applications on the 10 November 2016 and closed on 24th February 2017. It was open to projects that are focused on improving educational outcomes (at QQI Level 3-6 from the National Framework of Qualifications) for those experiencing educational disadvantage. Educational disadvantage that arises from living in a disadvantaged area, socio-economic disadvantage, experiencing mental health or other health issues, or disability are all relevant to this Fund. The intention of this evaluation is to provide Social Innovation Fund Ireland’s Education Fund Awardees with coherent and meaningful impact data on the outcomes of their project for the duration of their participation in the Education Fund programme. The Goal: To help identify Effective Education Projects that can serve as models of excellence in overcoming inequality in education to help identify what kind of practices and processes would have a long-term impact on educational disadvantage and to suggest how these can be replicated and what other policy changes might be desirable to overcome educational disadvantages.
