Tender description

The University of Bath seek to deliver a new School of Management on their main campus site at Claverton Down. The site sits adjacent to Convocation Avenue, the main entrance to the University and in close proximity to both Green Belt and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The site is a greenfield site with some landscaped made ground from previous university projects. A design team has been appointed to RIBA Stage 3 and will be novated to the main contractor (not enabling works) from RIBA Stage 4 onwards. The purpose of this PIN is to give early notice of a requirement for a suitable contractor to deliver the main works package, which is being procured separately to the enabling works package. The main works will include the fitting out of all areas constructed during the enabling works, plus the construction and fit out of the main building. The School of Management is anticipated to be circa 14 200 m2 (including enabling works levels). The main contractor (not enabling works) will undertake RIBA Stage 4 Technical Design, as part of the procurement package with a novated University Design Team. For information, the enabling works will comprise the following: —Detailed design of sub-structure/ basement from RIBA Stage 3, —Installation of hoarding, —Installation of access roads and main works compound, —Installation of retaining wall adjacent to Convocation Avenue, —Excavation to FFL, —Creation of 2 floor basement and associated tanking/ plant voids / risers / lift cores etc. to ground floor slab level. It is proposed that the current University Design Team will be novated to the main contractor at the end of RIBA Stage 3.
