Tender description
The University of Cambridge Library Tea Room is situated in the North wing. It provides cafeteria facilities to readers 6 days a week; it has its own production Kitchen. The ‘Tea Room’ provides breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea to staff and users of the University Library throughout the year and delivers occasional functions within the building. It has a fully equipped kitchen, serving area and dining area. Sales (net of VAT) are in the region of 375 000 GBP per annum and TUPE will apply to the contract. Cambridge University Library The University Library (UL) is the main Library of the University and one of the greatest research Libraries of the world. It is the centrally-administered Library of the University it comprises 5 separate Libraries: — the University Library main building, — the Medical Library, — the Betty and Gordon Moore Library at the Centre for Mathematical Sciences, — the Central Science Library (formerly the Scientific Periodicals Library), — the Squire Law Library. Current Situation The University Library Tea Room is situated in the North wing. It provides cafeteria facilities to readers 6 days a week; it has its own production Kitchen. The ‘Tea Room’ provides breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea to staff and users of the University Library throughout the year and delivers occasional functions within the building. It has a fully equipped kitchen, serving area and dining area. Sales (net of VAT) are in the region of 375 000 GBP per annum and TUPE will apply to the catering staff currently working for the University. TUPE information will be provided to interested suppliers after the site visit. The University is seeking a financial return in the form of a minimal payment and a concession based on % of sales. Currently the University Catering Service operates this outlet. The University is looking for a contractor to provide a new good quality, value for money beverage and Snack service for visitors to the Library from a coffee (pod or similar facility) which will be provided by the contractor to be located in the main Reception area of the Library.
