Tender description

A new housing development in Thurcroft, South Yorkshire called the 'The Hedgerows' has enabled the release of Section 106 monies to fund a community environmental/public arts project for the area. Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council would like to commission this project. Thurcroft is an ex-mining rural village and civil parish situated southeast of Rotherham in South Yorkshire. As of 2011, Thurcroft had a population of 5226 in 2294 properties. On completion, the Hedgerows will add a further 450 houses which represents a 19% increase. Thurcroft is a Big Local Initiative and has a plan in place steered by the local community with support from local organisations. The Consultation that informed the Big Local Plan specifically mentions community pride in the local mining heritage. RMBC Neighbourhood Partnerships is therefore seeking to appoint a consultant to design and deliver a Community-based Environmental Public Art Project in the village of Thurcroft. The successful consultant will be required to work with the local community to design and deliver a project: • Within the maximum budget of £33,000; • Fully completed by December 2019
