Supply of a Hydrographic Simulator, Research Testbed and Visualisation Suite for the University of Limerick

Tender description

This tender is for the acquisition of a simulation package to support our research activities within the Mobile & Marine Robotics Centre. Package to include: (a) research & development testbed (b) hydrographic training platform (c) visualisation toolset (d) offshore survey planning (e) automated survey execution. This package will be used across our research centre in projects supported by National and European funding and in research areas such as 3D Dense Reconstruction, machine vision manipulation, offshore high resolution survey and augmented reality perception. The system should enable delivery of interactive task-based procedural simulation of industry focused hydrographic training exercises in a variety of archetypal operational scenarios. These include the capability to perform smart survey performance prediction, survey plan refinement, and analysis of vessel and instrumentation resource scheduling requirements both pre-survey and in the field by enabling exhaustive "what if" analysis of the capability of a spectrum of survey configurations to achieve survey specifications. The Simulation platform should also support system validation & training dataset generation for intelligent machine vision/ image processing algorithms. The online survey execution tool should enable automated vessel runline planning during multibeam seabed mapping operations.
