Tender description

Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council (the Council) is looking to award a contract for the Supply and Delivery of a Highway Verge and Amenity Land Grass and Specialist Sites Grass Cutting Programme 2018-2019 with an option to extend for a further 12 months. Volume grass cutting on Highway Verges and Amenity Land at no more than 4 week intervals between March and October — on average 42 000 m2 to be cut each working day to achieve cut ratio of a 4 week cycle. Cutting of the Boroughs numerous rural verges and hedges via Side Arm. Cutting of grass at Blackburn ‘Old’ Cemetery (this includes 10 % of which requires a tractor mow) each cut must be completed within 4 working weeks of the agreed commencement date. Cutting of verges on the A6119 not central reservation — traffic management required is a tractor mow with an IPV protecting the staff. Each cut to be completed within 2 consecutive days. 1st cut in the last week in May 2nd cut in the last week in July and third in the first week in October. Cutting of verges on the A6078 (Barbara Castle Way) — including necessary traffic management for a 30 mph dual carriageway, at no more than 2 week intervals between March and October. Grass cut from this site must be collected and removed. Cutting of verges on the following roundabouts and motorway junctions including necessary traffic management: Whitebirk Road A678 Roundabout (including a shared section with Hyndburn BC), M65 Junction 5 M/way roundabout and rural verges, Guide Junction and 5 roundabouts on Haslingden Rd / Shadsworth Rd towards the Hospital, M65 Junction 4 roundabout and Paul Rink Way.
