Further Education now accounts for delivery of over 10% of the HE level work in England: HNCs, full degrees, Higher Level Apprenticeships; professional qualifications, and indeed some post graduate level work all now increasingly happen in the further education sector. However, this is not reflected in the content of current ITE qualification (although a few HEIs do offer relevant options). The Foundation sought to address this gap in training provision by engaging Derby University to design and pilot a level 6 CPD module, approximately the size of a Diploma option unit. This was achieved and two pilots were successfully completed. The Foundation is now offering this package in two separate regional locations as part of the start of making it more widely available. The specific work involves: 1. identifying two regional venues 2. recruiting 10+ trainees to each programme 3. delivering the training 4. relevant assessment 5. providing an evaluation The Derby scheme was a 20-credit level 6 programme delivered face to face over 4 days with additional online material provided and we would expect the successful delivery partner to offer something similar. Original pilots were at Chesterfield and Buxton so we would wish to see 2 separate centres further afield (eg say London and Manchester).
