Who Speclialist Work With The Criminal Justice System’s Common Platform Programme (CJSCPP) has an experienced team of Testers working on the testing of software as part of the development and delivery pipeline. The specialist is expected to play a key role in this team and to work with delivery teams and the operational team. What Specialists Work On Act as tech lead for the test team. Provide guidance and advice in the design and creation of tests and test automation of code and systems. Help define testing/technical/practice standards for the team and promote the team’s adherence to those standards. Help the team understand the development practices of the programme’s developer teams. Help the delivery team’s delivery managers prioritise work. The specialist will also be doing a lot of hands-on testing and test automation work alongside the rest of the team to develop robust and re-usable artefacts. Where the Work Takes Place Southern House, Wellesley GRove, Croydon, CR0 1XG (there will be occasional work in central London) Early Market Engagement Working Arrangements The specialist will be required to work onsite (usually at the base location but sometimes at the central London office) working a five (5) day week. The Service is being delivered against the GDS Service Manual (e.g. agile delivery aligned to scrum methodology). For any work performed at a location different to that of the Base location and London (outside of the M25), all reasonable travel and expenses costs shall be met in accordance with the rates set out in the MoJ travel and subsistence policy. All expenses will require prior approval from HMCTS before being reimbursed. Work Location Southern House, Wellesley GRove, Croydon, CR0 1XG (there will be occasional work in central London) Security Clearance BPSS Additional T&Cs Any expenses shall be submitted in line with Ministry of Justice standard Travel and Subsistence policy. Skills & Experience Demonstrable Testing experience in a project delivery / software development environment Demonstrable experience of working on large scale programmes / projects developing enterprise level IT Solutions within complex integrated applications architectures • Broad technical knowledge and experience in a Java based microservice architectures experience of working with a recognised Agile or Iterative development methodology (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, DSDM, RUP) • Experience in producing programme test strategies and test approaches • Experience across the following aspects of Testing: Unit, Functional, Automation, Integration, Performance Failover / Disaster Recovery, Security / Penetration • Good awareness of XP Practices – including Continuous Integration and Test Driven Development (TDD), Test Automation Knowledge of Test Automation tools, including, e.g:Static Analysis – CheckStyle, FindBugs, PMD • Strong Client Facing skills and ability to understand their key business drivers • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – able to communicate with internal teams and clients with technical and non-technical backgrounds Nice to Haves Experience of the Usability / Accessibility testing Experience of Exploratory testing Experience of Operational Acceptance testing Experience of User Acceptance testing Experience of Good working knowledge of SDLC tools Experience of ALM – e.g. Rational Team Concert / MS Visual Studio ALM / HP ALM / TeamForge Experience of Version Control – Experience of GitHub/SubVersion / Gerrit Experience of Collaboration – Confluence / cWiki / IM Experience of Issue/Task Management – JIRA / Bugzilla / HP QC No. of Specialists to Evaluate 3 Cultural Fit Criteria The specialist should be able to demonstrate Agile culture and values The specialist should be able to demonstrate Understanding of development practices (source code management, continuous integration, test as part of development etc.) The specialist should be able to demonstrate Understanding of Testing practice and methodology The specialist should be able to demonstrate Ability to guide a team and mentor it in good practice and discipline The specialist should be able to demonstrate Ability to work with other team leads and represent the team, its technical products and practices.
