Tender description

The contract period is from / September 2017 to 31.8.2020 with an option to extend for further periods up to 31.8.2022. Exact opening date to be confirmed subject to building works The service will be operated from the Café on the New Museums Site. A draft lease will be provided at least 1 week before the deadline for submission of tenders, to which a response under Section 4 will be required. 1.1 The New Museums Site (NMS) is one of the University's central and most prominent sites, occupying an historic location in the city centre with a unique, globally important, heritage. 1.2 The café (plan attached as Appendix 1) is located at the heart of the site on the podium level of the David Attenborough Building adjacent the famous Finback Whale skeleton and overlooking the Zoology Museum. The successful supplier will be required to sign a lease for the café. 1.3 As well as being a site wide facility the café forms part of the museum ‘Visitor Experience’ and is an important visitor service for the Zoology Museum. The quality of food and a high level of service are paramount. The contractor will be responsible for the ordering, delivery, storage of, sale and, where relevant, disposal, of foodstuffs and is responsible for ensuring that these operations are undertaken strictly in accordance with all relevant legislation and the University's Food Safety Policy. This includes registration with the University as a Registered Catering Provider. In addition, in keeping with the University's aims, the contractor must operate sustainably and be demonstrably sensitive to environmental issues.
