MHRA - Estates - CL3 Laboratory Single Motors to Dual Fans

The National Institute for Biological Standards and Control have identified that three Air Handling Units in one of their building are at the end of their working life and require replacement. The facilities serviced by these units are critical to the business continuity of the Institute. This project aims to upgrade existing fans within the air handling units serving Containment Level 3 laboratory areas by replacing single fans with two individual direct drive motor and fan units supplying both the supply and extract. This would mirror similar work undertaken on the new Prion Laboratory that was recently commissioned. The installation of a dual fan solution will bring a number of benefits including but not limited to a healthy and safe containment environment that will be maintained, safe working conditions for staff, assured business continuity, future proofing reliability, improved longevity of plant & equipment and improved energy efficiency over the existing older fans.
