Tender description

Meyrick Street River Retaining Wall, Wigan forms the northern river training wall of the River Douglas (a Main River) immediately downstream of the weir near the junction of Fourteen Meadows Road and Pottery Terrace. Immediately downstream of the wall, a pedestrian footbridge has been constructed across the River Douglas. The wall in question therefore extends from the end of Fourteen Meadows Road up to the abutment of this pedestrian footbridge. The works will involve the structural maintenance of Meyrick Street River Wall including removal and clearing of all vegetation growth and digging out of roots along full length of the wall, raking out the mortar joints to a depth of 20mm along the full length of the wall , carry out any necessary masonry repairs, repointing and grouting full length of wall as necessary. This activity will be enabled by the construction of a temporary scaffold access platform on the riverbed or a pontoon system. Keywords: Structural Maintenance
