Tender description

NHSBT will tender for a contract or contracts to commence 1.12.2017 for the supply of efficacious plasma components (fresh frozen plasma for paediatric and neonatal use, single and pooled cryoprecipitate for neonatal and paediatric use) for recipients deemed not to have been exposed to the risk of vCJD in the UK food chain. Plasma will be sourced from a country outside the UK with a vCJD prevalence >2.5 log lower than the UK. Regarding other transfusion transmitted infections, the final component risk must be ‘no worse than current’. NHSBT will consider: — Importation of plasma for subsequent pathogen inactivation and component manufacture by NHSBT. — Importation of pathogen inactivated plasma for subsequent component manufacture by NHSBT. — Importation of pathogen inactivated components. — Other solutions, including use of minipools. Prospective suppliers are invited to an engagement day at Filton Blood Centre on 9th February in order to explore options. As part of your expressions of interest please confirm your ability to attend the engagement day via email to jess.allen@nhsbt.nhs.uk by no later than 17:00 (GMT) on 2.2.2017.
