Plymouth City Council has been reviewing the current commissioned day opportunity services that support people with a range of needs to remain independent in their local community. Day Opportunities provide people with adult social care needs and support them to become more independent through a focus on prevention, reduced social isolation, improved health & wellbeing, increase self-management and reduced reliance on paid support through involvement in in social, leisure, and key life-skills development activities in the community. In considering the future shape of day opportunity provision, strategic commissioning partners have drafted a model and subsequent specifications in preparation for a full competitive procurement to take place. To further test and refine the model and specifications before we go out to tender we are looking to consult with the market to acquire an informed view and how they can make an impact towards the required system redesign.
