Contract 188 - Delivery of Support at Home, Assistive Technology and Mobile Response Service A core part of this aspiration is investment in technology-based solutions that support independent living for people with additional needs in their own homes and in Managed Accommodation developments for older people in Wigan Borough. We believe that advances in smart technology and in the internet of things means that people can have additional support embedded in their homes and the objects around them that makes everyday life easier. By using this technology, we are aiming to improve self-reliance and support people to maintain and rediscover the life skills they used to have. We are also aiming to reduce the incidence of unnecessary hospital admissions and the burden on other emergency services including the North West Ambulance Service and Greater Manchester Police, and ensure that family and carers are reassured about the wellbeing of their loved ones. The service specification outlines our expectations for a service with 3 elements that will make available: • A portfolio of technology for people to use in their homes which is renewed and updated as new technology becomes available, along with the storage of equipment, responsible disposal and recycling of obsolete equipment. • A mobile response service that attends people in their homes in response to alerts from the technology • A contact centre service to deal with alerts and calls from technology and to liaise with the mobile response service.
