Tender description

The requirement is for an experienced Contractor to supply and install an average speed camera system at roadside, and corresponding back office equipment in North Wales Police Safety Camera Unit. The camera system is to be installed on a stretch of the A5104 the runs from Clawdd Poncen, Corwen (307346-344860) to Rhydtalog (323068-354744). Analysis of collision routes, causing concern across the county of Denbighshire has taken place with the County Council, North Wales Police and GoSafe recommending the installation of an average safety (speed) camera system on a stretch of the A5104 the runs from Clawdd Poncen, Corwen (307346-344860) to Rhydtalog (323068-354744). The A5104 is a rural, single carriageway A-road (approximately 20.5 km in length) running approximately north-east to south-west through Denbighshire. The route is all single carriageway and subject to a 50 mph speed limit except through the villages of Bryneglwys (40 mph) and Llandegla which is subject to a 40/ 30 mph speed limit. The horizontal alignment of is meandering in nature with several sections where the carriageway is straight and lends itself to overtaking manoeuvres. The vertical alignment of the A5104 varies throughout which creates a number of hidden dips and blind crests along the route. 1.1 The requirement is for an experienced Contractor to supply and install an average speed camera system at roadside, and corresponding back office equipment in North Wales Police Safety Camera Unit. 1.2 The provider would be expected to project manage installation commissioning and liaise with Denbighshire County Council and GoSafe Camera Partnership.
