Tender description

Leicester City Council (the Authority) invites Quotations for the provision of 6 electric bikes for the Leicester City Council’s Walking and Cycling Team’s Project, entitled ‘Discovery Walks & Rides for Businesses’. The proposed Contract will be for one year with an option to extend for another 2 months. We anticipate awarding to a single Supplier. The Walking & Cycling Team won a bid in the one-year Defra Air Quality Grant, which runs from April 2017 to March 2018, for a project entitled ‘Discovery Walks & Rides for Businesses’. The project comes under the umbrella of our business engagement programme. The aim of this project is to improve air quality in Leicester, and subsequently the health of residents, with reductions in Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) from transport by encouraging employees to make a reappraisal of their travel options and make new choices and so enable individuals who currently drive to work alone in their cars, or take a taxi, to make their commute journey more active by walking or cycling. The Authority would buy, or, be loaned up to six electric bikes to encourage trial of this mode of transport and to evaluate usage, and barrier to use, by staff within a work setting.
