Summary of the work Power BI DevOps Engineer for HMPO's BI transformation project, working in agile delivery team to iteratively design, build and implement a BI platform infrastructure in collaboration with Lead Technical Architect. This work will lay the foundation of key architecture building blocks for the future BI platform. Who Speclialist Work With There is a small team allocated to this work formed of a Product Manager, Business Analyst, Technical Lead, Developer and a Lead Architect. What Specialists Work On Build BI infrastructure in AWS using Puppet, Chocholatey, Jenkins Support and installation of Windows 2012, Windows AD, SQL Server and automation Provide Expert knowledge and be an escalation point of contact for BI Infrastructure Work with existing DevOps team, BI project team and HMPO Security stakeholders. Skills & Experience • Have demonstrable experience of using AWS(VPC, EC2, RDS, ELB, Route53, IAM) mandTerraform for provisioning AWS resources • Have demonstrable experience of using Developers tools: GIT, Jenkins, Nexus/Artefactory and YAML/JSON • Have demonstrable experience of Networking concepts: TCP/IP, Firewall, Routing, DNS. • Have demonstrable experience of Windows 2012 server installation, management, configuration management, Chocholatey application manager • Have demonstrable experience of SQL Server installation, support and management • Have demonstrable experience of configuring Windows AD, roles, permissions, group policies, Windows security, Antivirus and WSUS Nice to Haves • Have demonstrable experience of build automation using Puppet, Ansible and Docker • Have demonstrable experience of Linux adminstration Work Location Westminster Working Arrangments We expect the specialist to work collaboratively with existing in house DevOps team and Strategic Business Intelligence project to develop the BI platform infrastructure in AWS. Work is based in London and will involve the supplier being on site 5 days per week to work collaboratively with HMPO teams; travel and expenses remains the responsibility of the supplier. Service design and development must align with the HM Passport Office strategic technical architecture and technologies. Security Clearance SC clearance is required. HMPO will support the clearance process. Additional T&Cs Breakpoints to assess progress and quality will be set at the end of alpha phase. Is this role based on Windows automation or running CI/CD on Windows. Please specify. This role is based on windows automation including CI/CD to configure automation in AWS environment. 2. 1.Is there any travel involved in this role and will the travel expenses be paid ? 2. Is the rate inclusive or exclusive of VAT? 3.Would you consider work permit holders (e.g. Tier 2 General Visa) and EU passport holders for this role ? 1.There may be travel involved to different regional sites in the UK and any travel required by the business will be paid. 2.The day rate is exclusive of VAT.3.HM Passport Office will not provide Visa sponsorship. The security clearance will require the individual to have been living continuously in the UK for five years. 3. Regarding the SC clearance status, if the candidate does not hold active SC clearance and is willing to go through the process, can this be considered, if yes will you sponsor the security clearance ? Yes HMPO are willing to support the SC clearance process for the appropriate candidate, if necessary. 4. What is the lead time for feedback once the application is submitted? The panel will aim to send shortlisting results within a week of closing date. 5. Will this role be within IR35? We expect this engagement to be outside IR35, however status is assessed on a case-by-case basis. 6. Any chances of change in start date as the latest date mentioned is 16 oct 2017 ? The latest start date remains the same but will depend on the successful candidates clearance process. 7. What are the other expenses which will be paid ? Other than travel expenses for business needs, other expenses will not be covered. 8. Any specific format(pdf,doc) in which CVs to be sent later ? CVs can be sent in either PDF or Doc format. 9. Is occasional remote working allowed? Occasional remote working is allowed based on agreements with Line Manager, but requirement is for 5 days a week onsite. 10. What is the rate for the role? We will assess the day rate for suppliers using the evaluation weighting we have disclosed on the requirements. 11. What is the IR35 status? We expect this engagement to be outside IR35, however status is assessed on a case-by-case basis. 12. Can you please clarify whether you require a Power BI consultant with AWS capability or require a DevOps Consultant to work alongside a PowerBI Consultant already in place? The requirement is for a DevOps engineer to work along side PowerBI specialist and Architects to build the BI infrastructure in AWS compliant with platform security policies. 13. Please could you advise Maximum day rate and IR35 status for this role. The maximum day rate has been left blank intentionally, we will assess the day rate for suppliers using the evaluation weighting we have disclosed on the requirements. We expect this engagement to be outside IR35, however status is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
