Construction Quality Assurance Services for East Galway Landfill Cell Development & Capping Contract

Galway County Council, is the licensee for Industrial Emissions License Reg. No. W0178-02 for the construction and operation of a non-hazardous residual waste landfill at East Galway (East Galway Landfill), Killagh More, Ballybaun (E.D. Killaan), Ballintober (E.D. Killaan), Ballinasloe, Co. Galway, Galway. The works considered for this tender are for the following: • Development of two new landfill cells. • Capping works for the filled cells. This project requires for the provision of site staff for the supervision of the works outlined above. The CQA contractor will be required to mobilise to site during July 2017 with the total duration of the works to be 48 months. For this project, the principal elements that will be subjected to CQA are: • 500mm thick Bentonite Enhanced Soil (BES) • 2.0 mm HDPE in landfill capping works • Liner leak detection test • Validation of cylinder test results for appropriate protection geotextile on cell formation • Validation of leachate stone drainage suitability in relation to stone size, permeability and CaCO3 content • Validation of FID surveys for leak detection on existing cap • 1.0mm LLDPE • Gas and Drainage cap related geocomposites • Leachate pipework • Landfill gas pipework
