CENTRICA DISTRIBUTED ENERGY & POWER (DE&P) CORNWALL LOCAL ENERGY MARKET PROJECT. No. LEM 006a: Invitation to Tender to supply CHP units to the Cornwall Local Energy Market Project. Overview: Supply of a natural gas fired Combined Heat & Power (CHP) system to be procured by the Centrica LEM project for installation at a hotel and spa complex near St. Ives in Cornwall. 1. Details of the Opportunity. Centrica plc's Cornwall Local Energy Market project (LEM) is a part EU funded pioneering initiative involving the development of a virtual marketplace that will trial providing participants (homes and businesses) with a platform to buy and sell energy and flexibility both to the grid and the wholesale energy market. The project will also be installing new generation, and energy storage solutions, which will allow us to explore how individuals and businesses interact with the technology. The £19m three-year trial is being delivered in partnership with the local distribution network operator Western Power Distribution, alongside National Grid and University of Exeter. It is being funded by Centrica and the British Gas Energy for Tomorrow Fund alongside a £13m grant from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). A minimum of two units are required with a combined maximum generating capacity in the region of 70 kWe and a maximum thermal output or approximately 126 kW. The units will be natural gas fired. The tender includes supply of the CHP units, commissioning and an on-going maintenance and overhaul programme. Installation is not included.
