Tender description

The Orthotics Service is committed to continuing improvement in the quality and cost effectiveness of the orthotic devices provided, ensuring products are delivered with prompt, reliable delivery times, and reducing the number of faulty orthotic devices needing to be returned. The orthotics service at Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is part of the Clinical Support Directorate. It is managed by the orthotics service manager, and staffed with allied health professionals (occupational therapist, physiotherapist, clinical orthotics technicians and an orthotist). The emphasis is on ‘self-help’ where possible, aiming to keep patients out of medically prescribed footwear and orthotic devices. We want to work in partnership with contractor/s who share our aims for a first class, patient centred and cost effective service. This contract is for contractor/s to work with us to provide orthotic devices of the highest quality, and who share our core trust values. 20 % of the Orthotic products used by Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust are bespoke. This includes, but is not limited to bespoke footwear and the total contact insoles (TCI's) for this footwear. Bidders will need to ensure high quality, equity of service to all patients, cost effectiveness and the best possible delivery times. 80 % of the Orthotic products used by Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust are either stock, modular or specialist made to measure goods. This includes, but is not limited to bespoke ankle foot orthoses (AFOs), knee, ankle, foot orthoses (KAFO's), and dynamic foot orthoses (DAFO's). Bidders will need to ensure high quality, equity of service to all patients, cost effectiveness and the best possible delivery times.
