1740/335/MY/AMRC/17 Power Skiving Turn Mill Machine Tools The University of Sheffield wishes to invite tenders for the provision of Power Skiving Turn Mill Machine Tools on behalf of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, Castings Group at Catcliffe, South Yorkshire. Scope of Requirement The supply, installation and commissioning of 2 twin spindle turn-mill machine tools for use in manufacturing research, particularly of gear and transmission components for the aerospace, automotive and energy industries. 2 machines will be selected for supply that offer complementary capability in respect of controller and synchronisation. The University seeks to purchase two machine tools that will support the AMRC's research into gear cutting technologies for multifunctional machine tools, including power skiving, hobbing, shaping, broaching and milling. AMRC's focus is on demonstrating opportunities for improved quality and accuracy in manufacture using single part setup for multiple operations. It requires that the equipment procured must support this and, therefore, the selected equipment shall demonstrate differing methodologies in respect of controller functionality/ software and synchronisation method.
